Message from Our Principal, Laura Studee:

More and more research is indicating that a K-8 (or in our case 4K-8) school is the best learning environment to educate both primary students and middle school students. I believe it is important for all parents to know the values of a 4K-8 education. Sheboygan Leadership Academy is special because we also integrate The Virtues Project, which is character based education, as well as authentic service learning, which is a commitment to take learning a step further into actually doing, into our everyday programming.

When our students graduate they have the potential to leave as leaders.

About Our School:

  • Our building has three learning areas. The east side houses our 4K and 5K classrooms. The primary classrooms are located predominantly on the north side of the building, and the middle school homerooms are located on the south side of the complex. In addition to “core” classes, students receive instruction in Spanish, physical education, music and art starting in kindergarten. Students in all areas benefit from one-on-one attention and close tracking by teachers and aides who have known them for years. Our school allows parent involvement, encourages communication between parents and teachers, and fosters a mutual support system between school and home.
  • When students enter 6th grade, they move from room to room as they would in a traditional middle school setting interacting with a variety of teachers. The advantage of that setting being housed in a small 4K-8 school is that the teachers get to know the students very well, and follow their progress closely. Middle school students challenge each other to achieve academic success and honor roll recognition. Whereas peer pressure in many settings is a negative term, the peer pressure, in this case, is to excel.
  • Everyone enters our school through a secure entrance monitored by school administration. Our building utilizes cameras to ensure security throughout the day. Our small school family ensures that all staff know all family members by name. The safety of our students is of the highest priority.
