Academics at Cooper School

Cooper School strives to provide all students with a variety of learning opportunities. We provide enrichment opportunities through our Makerspace and our instrumental music program. Students are provided with additional support through the ELI, ELL, and Special Education services. Please use the links on the left for more information about each of these programs and services.

Literacy Intervention

Literacy Intervention program is an intense reading support group for  students. Students with multiple reading concerns are the typical candidates for intervention.

English Learners (ML)

To ensure students acquire sufficient English proficiency and to enable them to function successfully in the classroom and society the ML curriculum is content-based and reflect mainstreamed curriculum whenever possible, and students are placed at age-appropriate grade levels regardless of English language proficiency.

Instrumental Music

Beginning band is open to all 5th-grade students. We offer instruction on flute, oboe, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone and combined percussion.

Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support (PBIS)

PBIS is an acronym for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. The goal of PBIS is to promote and teach appropriate pro-social skills and behaviors to maximize academic success for all students.

School Counselor

School counselors address all students' academic, personal/social and career development needs through classroom, group, and individual counseling.

Special Education

All students should be provided with an education in the development of cognitive skills, affective skills, self-awareness, self-esteem, physical well being, and socially acceptable decision making strategies.

Title I

Title I is a federal program that provides money to school districts to help children becoming successful learners.

Students
