Spring is upon us! It always takes a little while for it to actually feel like spring here in Sheboygan, but we know it is on the horizon, which is a good feeling after a long winter. This week we are just starting our Forward testing schedule and when we return from Spring Break we will continue throughout the month of April. We have been working with our students to prepare them for this state test which focuses on math and reading for our 3rd through 8th graders and also assesses science and social studies in 4th and 8th grades. In the coming weeks, we ask that your child have ample sleep, and a healthy breakfast, and be ready to put forth their best effort on these tests. This is just one snapshot of how our students are progressing in their learning.
During next week, Spring Break, our office will be closed. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing Spring Break! Whether your break takes you far away or keeps you nearby, may you enjoy time with friends and family relaxing and rejuvenating! We look forward to starting our 4th quarter when school resumes on April 3rd.
We are so excited to offer this new event for our LCA families. Cocoa da Vinci will feature the artwork of all students through a trip "around the world". As families peruse the artwork throughout our school, a chocolate sampling will also be offered at each stop. Our students have learned and accomplished so much in their art classes this year and we can't wait to share it with you. The whole family is invited and it's free!
We need help in various ways to make this a success. Interested in helping with displays or providing a chocolate dessert? Check out the sign up for more details:

We will have a committee meeting on Tuesday, April 4 at 5:15 p.m. in the school library. Plan to attend so you can see how you can help!
On March 10, we are hosting our first "Books & Buddies" event. Students in 4K-4th grade will be paired with our older students and will be read a story by their "buddy". Students can bring a stuffed animal to also be their "buddy". This event will be held 8:10-8:40 a.m. in the 4K-4th classrooms. Parents, you are welcome to attend and we'll have coffee available for you in Founders' Hall!
Rainbow Kids holds an ADULT program which runs at the same time as the program for youth. This is for families experiencing grief from a significant life change (divorce, death, separation, deployment, etc. )
Sessions will be held at Family Connections, 2508 S. 8th St. Sheboygan, WI 53081.
These are Monday evenings from 6-7:00 p.m., 2/27-5/1. Please call Michele Hemb
