Lake Country Academy and the John Michaels Kohler Art Center (JMKAC) have always worked closely together to engage students in art making and art collections through various field trips. This year our 5th grade and 8th grade were both invited to create art for Youth Art Month at the JMKAC. Each of these classes visited the art center earlier this year to see the art collections and were then asked to create art pieces that were inspired by their visit. Our 5th graders collectively made an art installation representing an LCA student and our 8th graders individually made small box dioramas inspired by art displays in the art center.
The exhibition is on view now until Sunday, April 2. Students with a piece of artwork in the exhibition receive a free cookie and free project kit by stopping in the Social Studio at the Arts Center (the large room on the left when you come through the front doors). Thanks in advance for honoring the young artists from LCA, and enjoy the exhibition! https://www.jmkac.org/exhibition/youth-art-month-2023/
Lake Country Academy will be holding our own art show displaying the artwork of all our students from the school year. Our event, Cocoa DaVinci, will be held on an evening in May. It will feature a gallery walk along with chocolate treats to taste along the way. Watch for more information to come!
On March 10, we are hosting our first "Books & Buddies" event. Students in 4K-4th grade will be paired with our older students and will be read a story by their "buddy". Students can bring a stuffed animal to also be their "buddy". This event will be held 8:10-8:40 a.m. in the 4K-4th classrooms. Parents, you are welcome to attend and we'll have coffee available for you in Founders' Hall!
