Family Letter: Board of Education Special Session Update

August 31, 2021

Español - Hmoob

Dear Sheboygan Area School District families,

Tonight, the Sheboygan Area School District Board of Education held a Special Session meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and take possible action on the district's COVID-19 mask requirements and mitigation strategies.

After community input and board deliberation, a motion was put forth on mandatory masking, which did not pass.

As a result, the Sheboygan Area School District will continue the masking mitigation measures approved at the July 27, 2021 meeting:

  • Masks are recommended but optional for all students, staff, and visitors.
  • Masks are required for riders on all yellow school buses and Shoreline Metro buses.
  • Masking is highly encouraged for unvaccinated individuals.

Please review this previously shared letter from the school nurses, which addresses recommendations to keep our students in school and reduce the spread of illness, or visit our COVID-19 Mitigation Measures webpage for the most up-to-date information.

Sincerely,

Seth Harvatine
