Dear Sheboygan Area School District middle and high school families,
At tonight’s Board of Education meeting, our administrative team presented a plan for Farnsworth, Horace Mann, and Urban Middle Schools as well as North and South High Schools to transition to in-person learning four days a week beginning Monday, February 22. Wednesdays will remain an asynchronous learning day for hybrid students and also allows teachers time to work with virtual students.
Families who have previously selected virtual learning for the 2nd semester will remain in virtual learning through the end of the school year.
As a result of approximately 1,400 students committing to virtual learning for the entire second semester, our middle and high schools are able to adjust staffing, scheduling, and space considerations to accommodate the combining of cohorts to have students attend in-person four days per week.
In addition, the data reported weekly on our COVID Metrics Dashboard is showing consistent downward trends in our schools and community.
Schools will maintain the same mitigation strategies, including universal masking and maintaining 6 feet of distance between students and staff. In some cases, schools may need to utilize larger classrooms or overflow rooms to ensure we are able to accommodate physical distancing of 6 feet.
Please continue to monitor your child for symptoms daily and keep any sick children and their siblings at home. Visit our Health & Counseling Services page for information and a screening checklist.
Families of Current Bus Riders - Please be aware your pick-up and/or drop off times may change starting Monday, February 22. You can check times here beginning February 19: Bus Routes The Sheboygan Area School District cannot guarantee that the recommended social distancing of six feet will occur on the bus.
Please watch for more school-specific information from your child’s school regarding our transition to 4 days of in-person learning.
If you have questions, please email the Sheboygan Area School District at email@example.com or contact your child’s school principal.
