SASD Adds Three New Career Pathway Maps

September 25, 2023

The Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) is proud to announce three new Regional Career Pathway maps, which outline a path for high school students to prepare for careers in Marketing, Finance, and Business Administration. The maps reflect specific courses and college credit opportunities available to high school students in the Sheboygan Area School District.

In addition, the pathway maps identify opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized credentials, participate in work-based learning experiences, and join related student clubs and organizations.

For example, the Business Management Career Pathway includes suggested classes like Introduction to Business, Microsoft Office Specialist, INCubatorEDU, and Speech. SASD offers several courses for college credit, including Business Management, Personal Finance, and Accounting. Students are encouraged to join a club like DECA or Future Business Leaders of America to gain experiences outside the classroom. The maps also provide links to other local, regional, and state resources.

This brings the total number of approved Regional Career Pathway maps to seven, which includes Advanced Manufacturing, Architecture and Construction, Digital Technology, and Health Science Patient Care.

Regional Career Pathways have been vetted by regional collaborative groups of business and industry in the area and are supported by labor market information.

Students in grades 6-12 regularly use an Academic and Career Pathway planning tool called Xello, which parents can access from home to support their students. Within Xello, students, with the help of their counselor, pursue their own unique and information-based vision for post-secondary success. The maps will serve as a guide for students to plan their future careers and their experiences can be added to their XELLO profile.
