What Tech Ed classes are you currently taking or have you taken in your high school career?
Red Raider Manufacturing

Have you taken advantage of any on-site work experience opportunities?
Youth Apprenticeship (full year)

Describe your experience with Job Shadowing, Co-Op, or Youth Apprenticeship, if applicable.
I learned how to TIG weld steel to a professional level and my work is being used on the line at Johnsonville. I learned other useful manufacturing skills using the mill, engine lathe, bandsaw, power tools, and more.

What other classes are you taking?
Pursuing my electromechanical automation degree at LTC.

What activities are you involved in (clubs, organizations, sports)?
I work at Blue Harbor as a Lifeguard.

What is your favorite thing about your Red Raider Manufacturing experience?
I have the ability to be creative and free with the skills I know already and the opportunity to learn new ones on projects I'm working on.

What project are you most proud of?
The project I was most proud of was when I built iPad stands for the factory lines at Johnsonville. We had just started using iPads for our metrics and the operator had no place to put them on the work line. So I was tasked with building a stand for them, and they turned out great.

Why should a student participate in the Red Raider Manufacturing program?
A student should join because it gives them actual experience of what it's like to be in a manufacturing field. The program shows you which jobs you like and what jobs you don’t like when working in a technical field. The program is also a great way to get a jumpstart in life.

    What are your future plans?
My future plans after my youth apprenticeship is over are to finish my Electro-Mechanical Automation Degree at LTC and continue working at Johnsonville as an Electro Maintenance Tech.
