Sheboygan North High National Art Honor Society Creates Lincoln-Erdman Mural

June 3, 2023

The Sheboygan North High National Art Honor Society (NAHS) designed and created a 4-foot by 14-foot mural for Lincoln-Erdman Elementary School in collaboration with its student council. The mural was led by Senior Dior Richter, NAHS President.

This large-scale mural originated earlier this school year with the idea of providing elementary students with the opportunity to work with high school art students. Both student organizations share similar goals of community outreach and beautifying their school campuses.

Over the past few months, NAHS members participated in video conferences with Lincoln-Erdman student council advisors who shared the students’ ideas and visions for the artwork. The elementary students wanted to include unique characteristics of the school’s environment, motto, embracing positivity, and Panther pride.

The art students created several concepts for the piece. Over video conferences, the student council advisors provided feedback from the elementary students regarding various elements of the design. The final design incorporated the elementary students' favorite parts of each concept, and also showcases the amazing talent of the high school artists.

In May, Lincoln-Erdman students traveled to North High to add their own special touches to the artwork by placing their handprints among the greenery in the mural.

The mural was installed at Lincoln-Erdman Elementary School last week!
