Three Sheboygan Area School District Schools Honored with Wisconsin Title I Schools of Recognition

April 9, 2020

Cooper Elementary, Grant Elementary, and James Madison Elementary Schools are among 107 schools statewide selected as Wisconsin Title I Schools of Recognition in the Beating-the-Odds category for the 2019-2020 school year. This is the third consecutive year that Grant Elementary School has been recognized for this award.

Criteria for receiving a Schools of Recognition award include reaching goals for test participation, attendance, and graduation rates. Schools recognized in the Beating the Odds category are in the top 25 percent of high-poverty schools in the state and have above-average student achievement in reading and mathematics when compared to schools from similarly sized districts, schools, grade configurations, and poverty levels.

Superintendent Seth Harvatine said “Congratulations to our recognized schools that are committed to ensuring all students, regardless of poverty, achieve at high levels. Student success and development are the centerpieces of every action our staff members take each day to ensure our students are set up for success. This is a well-deserved honor for the staff members, students, and families at Cooper, Grant, and James Madison Elementary Schools.”
