Let’s make some music!
In General Music class, students not only learn and demonstrate musical knowledge and skills, they learn how to be performers, creative humans, listeners, critical thinkers, and stewards of their cultural heritage. Students learn melodic and rhythmic concepts through kinesthetic, aural, visual preparation, and then have the opportunity to practice these fundamentals through reading, writing, active listening, composing, and improvising activities. All of this is strung together through singing and instrument playing, using a wide variety of repertoire from folk songs and song games to music of the masters.
