While being active has always been a focus, it was difficult to find that one program that would always bring me back. POUND does just that and more!! My adventures with POUND began 8 years ago when a friend asked me to join her in “trying out” this new fitness regime. Little did I know that 4 years later, I would be certified to share this awesome program, and lead a fitness class. Seeing how this program has transformed not only the physical aspect, but also the mental aspect of myself and so many others, is what drives me to continue helping people find that “one” program and enhance their personal journey. The past 4 years have been nothing shy of amazing.
Carrie teaches Traditional Pound and Pound Unplugged.
Julie have been a fitness instructor for the rec department for 25 + years. I started attending classes as a participant and eventually trained to be an instructor. I have lived in Sheboygan all my life, other than attending college. I enjoy spending time with my family, taking walks, and just being active. My class has a core group of participants that continue to support my class.
Julie teaches Steppin' Up.
Lynn lost 50 pounds after the birth of my third child. While it was challenging, I found help in the Sheboygan Recreation Department with a newly formed dance program that kept my motivation high to continue my fitness and weight-loss journey to health and happiness. As a fitness instructor, I know what it is like to struggle with being overweight and the difficulty of sticking to a new or existing workout program. Although I started as a participant, I eventually began leading fitness and dance classes.
Life happens. Time, energy and resources prevented me from continuing teaching for the Recreation Department for several years, but I continued my education about health and fitness. I enjoy helping others transform through fitness. Through the years I have worked with many Recreation Department participants who felt frustrated and overwhelmed. I love working with beginners and those who feel as though they failed in the past. I was once a beginner too! It’s heartwarming to see when a student “gets it,” transitions to a heavier weight, does an exercise they thought was beyond them or comments that they never felt better or stronger in their life. Fitness should be accessible and enjoyable while being tailored to each individual participant. We are all unique people. I want my workouts to ensure that regardless of your ability, each class could be used to support a healthy lifestyle from youth through our senior years. When I was 69, I was hit and thrown over the hood of a car driven by an inattentive driver. I
received a broken collarbone and two leg fractures. I’m sure that all my years of exercise prevented me from being injured even worse. While lying in bed in pain and unable to get out
without help, I vowed to recover and get even stronger. Pre-covid I was Nia certified (Neuro-muscular Integrative Action) as well as Zumba and Zumba Gold. Post-covid I’ve used my time to continue my education in the fitness field taking a
certification in Basic Yoga and 2 certifications in Foam Rolling. Recently I’ve focused on strength training: taking certifications in The Fundamentals of Strength Training, Strength Training Over 50, Sculpted and Strong, The Fundamentals of TRX Training, Fusion Fitness and Pilates Matwork. These make me a knowledgeable, experienced, and well-rounded instructor. My long-term goals are to continue to help students stay motivated, strong and healthy.
Lynn teaches Butts & Guts, Gams & Hams, Gentle Fusion Fitness, Tighten & Tone, Winter Walk.
Lynne graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (K-12). My major was Physical Education and minor in Health Education. I taught PE for SASD for 4 years. Then I started my family and stayed home with my children and worked part time for the Sheboygan Recreation Department. Through out numerous years the Rec Dept continued to certify myself through NETA in areas of yoga, step, nutrition, strength and core training, kickboxing, dancing etc. I’m also certified current in my CPR.
I am currently teaching swim lessons and James Madison Pool and teaching Cardio Dance & Sculpt every day at PRRC and Body Recharge. I love my job keeping all my participants healthy and fit and living our “best life”. I’ve stayed active and busy playing tennis, vegetable gardening, flowers, walking, traveling and staying involved with my 5 grandchildrens activity.
Lynne teaches Body Recharge, Cardio Dance & Tone and Cardio Dance.
Monica has been practicing yoga for 20 years and instructing classes for more than 11. She has taught for several organizations including UWS and Bridgepoint Health.
Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice with many benefits. Besides the physical ones, flexibility, strengthening and balance, it helped her develop self-awareness, compassion, patience, and gratitude.
Because Yoga helps with healthy aging, she intends to always have Yoga in her life.
Monica teaches Gentle Yoga.
Monica have been practicing yoga for 20 years and been a class instructor for more than 11. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice with many benefits and I believe it has opened doors to my life that may have never been possible. It has also helped me heal through divorce, raise two children, and develop self-awareness, compassion, patience, and gratitude.
Besides the Sheboygan Recreation Department, I have taught for several other organizations including UWS and Bridgepoint Health. I have met many wonderful people over the years which has been a wonderful bonus. Because it helps with healthy aging, I hope to always have Yoga in my life.

Sandy started out in the exercise field as an instructor for Elaine Powers Salon for Women back in 1976, while taking a 1-year hiatus from teaching school. She quickly became the assistant manager and was in charge of ongoing training of the employees.
Upon moving back to Sheboygan, she was asked to become a part-time instructor for the Sheboygan Recreation Department, and has been teaching a wide variety of classes for them since 1982. She is particularly proud of her Cardio Dance and Sculpt class (Dance Combo), which started in 1983 and is the longest running class in our program. Sandy loves combining her teaching and music skills with her love of exercise, and the enjoyment of meeting many new people through the years adds to this great experience.
Sandy earned a BA in education for grades K-12 and a Masters in Church Music. Having specialized in music, algebra/math, U.S. history, and physical education, Sandy retired from 45 years of teaching school (38 years of it full time) in August of 2020. Besides teaching exercise classes, Sandy continues working as the organist and choir director for Bethlehem Lutheran Church, gives private piano lessons, music-directs for local theatre groups, and is a Norwex consultant.
Sandy and her husband, Eric Johnson, are life members of the Sheboygan Theatre Company, and are very active in the lives of daughter Tammy and grandsons Zachary and Joshua. Besides musical theatre, she also enjoys flower gardening, traveling, walking, reading, Sudoku, and spending time with friends.
Sandy teaches Dance Combo and Fusion Fitness.
