Internship Opportunities

One of five major departments within the Sheboygan Area School District the Community Recreation Department provides recreation programming for all individuals living within the 50,000 resident school district. Utilizing 13 public school facilities as well as a variety of city owned park facilities, the department emphasizes programming in the area of athletics, aquatics, fitness, drama, child care, summer enrichment classes, special events as well as general leisure activities and services. Operating on an annual budget of approximately $2.4 million, the department employs four full time professional staff members, three secretarial staff members, two full-time maintenance personnel and approximately 325 part-time seasonal employees.

The intern may be given the responsibility for directing a program currently being operated by the department, as well as an opportunity to develop and create a new program. The intern will report directly to the Director of Community Recreation and will work with other full-time staff members in the development of other work assignments. 

Internship will be available year round. Intern must be in the process of fulfilling the requirement of a degree in Recreation or Sport Management or must be a recent graduate with those degrees.

In addition to the various programs found under the major program areas, students may choose to be involved in any of the following projects: Community-Wide Advisory Council, Maywood Environmental Park, Departmental Evaluation, Special Projects and Events, Media Projects and Special Needs Programming.

  4. You may also print the time sheet and drop it off at the Recreation Department office at 3330 Stahl Rd. There is a 24-hour drop box located outside the main entrance.
