Activities at Lincoln-Erdman School

At Lincoln-Erdman, students and families have many opportunities to be involved and learn outside of the school day. We offer a variety of evening activities for families, as well as after-school programs and clubs for students. Check our calendar for details!

Great Start Conferences

This event is held at the end of August to welcome new families to school and welcome back those who are returning. It is a good way to touch base with teachers and staff and to bring in school supplies to "lighten the backpack" for the first day of school. Busing information is also available.

LEEF Trail

The Lincoln-Erdman Environmental and Fitness (LEEF) Trail is for students and the community to enjoy while learning more about Wisconsin's plant and animal life and fitness. The vision is to develop an environmental retreat where people can explore, exercise, study, and learn.

Chess Club

This year, the chess club will be virtual. We will learn and play using the ChessKid website. To read more about this year's Chess Club and sign up, please read the information and fill out the form from Mrs. Meyer. Sign Up FORM

KidStop Childcare

KidStop Childcare is designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The KidStop community partnership meets the needs of families by providing a safe and affordable place for students before and after school. At Lincoln-Erdman Elementary, before- and after-school childcare is provided by the Recreation Department. Registration for KidStop is open throughout the school year and can be done online here or by contacting the Recreation Department at 920-459-3773.

PBIS

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS is about teaching and promoting safe, respectful, and responsible behaviors. Students are recognized for making positive choices that follow our school expectations. When students do not follow expectations, they are re-taught the appropriate behavior and, when necessary, are given an Office Discipline Referral (ODR).

Youth-Tutoring-Youth (YTY)

Youth-Tutoring-Youth is a program that provides high school students with an opportunity to give direct tutoring assistance to elementary classrooms under the guidance of a supervising and coordinating teacher. Tutoring occurs in one-on-one, small-group, or whole-group settings. High School students typically work with students for one semester.

Fifth-Grade Instrumental Music

Students participating in an instrumental music program develop self-discipline through regular practice, teamwork, and leadership skills while playing with peers, and self-confidence when playing for friends and family.

Band

Beginning band is open to all 5th-grade students. We offer instruction on flute, oboe, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, and combined percussion. Students receive one twenty-minute lesson and one thirty-minute full rehearsal per week. Students participating in an instrumental music program develop self-discipline through regular practice, teamwork, and leadership skills while playing with peers, and self-confidence when playing for friends and family.

Orchestra

The strings program is open to all 5th-grade students. Students who participate in the strings program attend a weekly, small-group lesson that is scheduled before school or during the school day. Instruments available for study are the violin, viola, cello, and string bass.

Special Events

Held each year at Lincoln-Erdman to raise student awareness and knowledge of geography. This academic challenge helps to nurture, encourage, and reward students’ interest in geography.

Jump Rope For Heart is a national education and fundraising event sponsored by the American Heart Association and the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE). This event engages elementary students with jumping rope while empowering them to improve their own health and help other kids with heart-health issues. It is typically held during the month of February, and the children learn and practice their jump roping skills during physical education class to help improve their strength, gain confidence, build stamina, and extend their physical abilities in other activities.

An annual event that showcases the wonderful scientific thinking and creativity of our students. The event is open to all students at any grade level and is focused on a theme of importance to our school. Previous themes have been: agriculture, health and fitness, and living green. Science fair exhibits are judged on creativity, scientific content, and student understanding by guest judges from the surrounding community. Lincoln-Erdman’s Science Fair is genuinely an exciting display of student knowledge and imagination. It’s an occasion to attend with the whole family!

Do you like to sing, dance, or maybe you like to play an instrument? Do you have a hidden talent you want to share? Sharing your talent by yourself or with a group is not only exciting but also shows school spirit and can build your confidence.

This is the culminating activity of the fourth-grade study of biographies. Students research a famous person to create a timeline and write a report in the first person. Students then pose as the person they researched and share their memorized reports with family and friends.

Enjoy some ice cream while viewing the wonderful artistic talents of Lincoln-Erdman students. Art is a common thread that runs through all areas of life and study. Art à la Mode is our exhibit to highlight and share art creations made during this school year. Art pieces include sculptures, paintings, drawings, and more!

The Blood Drive is organized by the Student Council each year as a community service project.

Lincoln-Erdman students, staff, and families dress up in costumes to enjoy an evening filled with games, prizes, food, and fun. Students take their chances at pumpkin weight guessing and winning a cake in the Creepy Crawly Cake Walk. Parents, teenagers, and staff help support the evening by working the games and the concession stand.

An annual family event at Lincoln-Erdman. Santa comes to visit, and there are raffles, games, and (of course) breakfast cooked by our dedicated parents. This is one event you won’t want to miss!

The Student Council organizes this annual event. From decorations to what food to serve, it is a completely student-driven event.

In addition to several concerts presented by our fourth and fifth-grade school chorus, Lincoln-Erdman celebrates the holidays through song with an annual holiday program. This December program features performances by our fifth-grade String Ensembles, the fifth-grade band, and all students from K4 to Fifth Grade. Even our faculty and staff perform at the holiday program! We study and perform a variety of music that incorporates and supports the musical concepts being studied within the music classroom.

At this event, each student will be entered in one running event and one field event. All the events will take place before lunch. An obstacle course is scheduled to follow lunch. The boys' and girls' events will be held separately, with the boys competing in the running events first and the girls competing in the field events first. Each student will choose his/her running and field event for the day from the list below. Students have been introduced to various running and field events during physical education class, so hopefully, each student will find an event in which they enjoy and can excel. Ribbons will be awarded to the top ten finishers in each event, and every participant will receive a certificate of participation.

This day is meant to be one of fun, excitement, and good sportsmanship! The events are run by current and former Sheboygan Area School District employees, as well as students from North and South High Schools. Remember that a true sportsman will always congratulate their competitor, whether they win or lose. We hope to see a lot of handshaking and high-fives, not only among friends and classmates, but also opponents.

Our Fifth-Grade Recognition ceremony is held each year to honor and recognize our 5th-grade students as they complete their elementary school careers and wish them well on their new adventure—middle school! Refreshments will be served after the program, so plan to stay and share some memories of Cleveland and enjoy time with family and friends.
