October 3, 2025

Mr. Miller aka Mr. Tree is excited to announce that the North High Botany program and Ineract Club have once again partnered wit the local organization ROOTS (Restoration of Our Trees - Sheboygan) and Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP) to host another tree planting on two more campuses here in SASD. We will be planting at South High School and Jackson Elementary School on Saturday, October 18th.

Where - South High School & Jackson Elementary School

When - Saturday, October 18th

What - We will be planting 80-90 trees total, with species ranging from river birch to dawn redwood

Why - Trees are critical members of the biosphere and our local ecosystems that help purify air and sequester (or hold in) carbon dioxide, keeping it out of our atmosphere. Did you know that 1 mature tree=10,000 sheets of paper and a mature tree absorbs approximately 10-40 kilograms (kg) of CO2 per year?

How
- After a brief demonstration by Mr Miller aka Mr. Tree, teams of volunteers will work together to position, properly plant, stale, tie and mulch trees. All of the holes will be pre-dug to faciliate ease of planting.

Who
- Interact Club, Sheboygan Rotary Club, Students, Staff, Community Members and possibly you.  All are welcome at this event.

Important Notes - Dress for the weather as we plant rain or shine! Shovels, garden rakes and garden gloves will be provided, but due to a limited supply, it is always helpful if you can bring a tool or two of your own to faciliate the process. Make sure to clearly label any tools you bring with your name or we may end up swapping rakes!
