The following message is being sent out to the guardians of all our students on the following dates:
Sept. 23
Oct. 2Oct. 7
Dear Guardians,
On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades will participate in taking the PreACT assessment. Seniors will not be required to report to school on this day.
The Sheboygan Area School District has opted to take the PreACT for the following reasons:
1) The PreACT reflects the ACT and PreACT Secure which are part of the Wisconsin Student Assessment System as our school’s measure of accountability. As a district, we are invested in our students doing well on these assessments and therefore value the PreACT as a practice assessment.
2) Exposure to standardized tests such as the PreACT helps to increase student ACT scores.
3) Parents have advocated for ACT prep courses. Allowing students to take the PreACT gives them an opportunity for ACT prep.
4) The data collected from the test allows teachers to address content gaps that may be identified through the assessment.
Students will be taking the test in their homerooms unless directed otherwise by a teacher. We will run a modified schedule which will be posted on the North High School website at a later date and lunch will be served as a Grab and Go option. Buses will run on their regular Wednesday schedule.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the PreACT, you can contact Alexandra Nugent at 920-459-3625 or anugent@sasd.net or the school directly at 920-459-3600.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
