Last year, South HS ran a pilot with vape sensors in one boys bathroom and one girls bathroom. South reported that the sensors served as a noticeable deterrent.
Last fall, our Board of Education made a decision to purchase vape sensors for bathrooms in all the secondary schools.
The sensors have recently been installed at North but are not turned on. The sensors in our building will not be turned on until sensors are operational in all of the buildings. I suspect this will be sometime by the end of March. Nonetheless, our parents and students will be properly notified before they are used. Staff will also be notified and our security and administrative teams will be properly trained.
