The Color Run is a fun, family event that is held on a Friday in late May or early June. The event takes place during the school day so all students have the opportunity to participate. The PTA and our PE teacher, Mrs. Selby, partner to bring this fun activity that promotes physical activity and family engagement to our students. Participants run/walk through a 1-2 miles course on the grounds of Wilson and South High schools and pass through 4 different color stations where volunteers splash them with colored chalk. This event has been a HUGE hit for kids and adults alike!
As part of the school-wide Color Run, students are encouraged to participate in a fun and fantastic fitness fundraiser known as Step It Up! This fundraiser benefits the physical education program as well as a designated local charity (i.e. Shaw Family Playground). The purpose of this program is to promote physical activity, healthy eating habits, and community service (4>2). The students can also earn some cool prizes and will get to challenge themselves on an inflatable obstacle course based on the TV shows “Wipeout” and “American Ninja Warrior” during our DAY OF AWESOMENESS on the day of the all-school picnic.
