People Who Can Help at NHS

Your School Counselor is here to help you with almost everything….academic, personal/social and career counseling is provided. Counselors work with students individually, in small groups and in classrooms. Come to the Counseling Center .... your counselor can be a good “first step” when seeking help of any kind.

The School Social Worker is also located within the Counseling Center. This person is available for individual and group support. This person also plays a role in attendance conferences and referrals.

The Raider Learning Center is an opportunity during the school day for students who are credit deficient due to failures in core classes are offered the ability to redo that core credit(s). The core credits curriculum is different than what is offered in the traditional setting to hopefully re-engage the student in the learning process. While the curriculum of the classes is different they were created using North’s Essential Learnings, Common Core Standards and Wisconsin State Standards. The student will be guided through the curriculum and also be able to work at an individual pace with the understanding that they will have a semester (18 weeks) to complete a class or classes. Placement in the Raider Learning Center goes through the student’s counselor.

The Excel Center for Personalized Learning is an after school opportunity for students who are credit deficient due to failures in core classes are offered the ability to redo core credit(s). The core credits curriculum is different than what is offered in the traditional setting to hopefully re-engage the student in the learning process. While the curriculum of the classes is different they were created using North’s Essential Learnings, Common Core Standards and Wisconsin State Standards. The student will be guided through the curriculum and also be able to work at an individual pace.

It is recommended that students enrolled in the Excel Center attend at least 30 minutes a week. The Excel Center is located in Room 215 and is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 3:30 - 5 pm. Placement in the Excel Center for Personalized Learning goes through the student’s counselor.

*Raider Learning Center students may attend this option also without additional placement by their counselor.

The School Psychologist is located within the Counseling Center. This person provides testing and evaluation for those who are being referred for additional services. Serving a number of schools, you may need to leave the School Psychologist a message and return during their office hours.

Your Teachers can help you toward better understanding an assignment or a lesson from class. Ask your teacher when might be a good time to meet. Teachers may be able to support you in many different ways.

The Police Liaison Officer/Security Officers/Security EA are all available to you during the school day. The offices for the Police Liaison (who is here as an advisor to the students about the law and law enforcement) and Security Educational Assistant are located in the commons. Security Officers are located in the general office.

Raider Nation!!! Are you looking to sign up for an appointment with your counselor? Are you having a hard time getting a hold of them when you stop in to the Counseling Center? Well, those days are now in the past!!!!
