Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills. Each student is provided with individualized support, appropriate to the student’s needs from school district staff to assist with completing and annually updating an academic and career path.

All students and staff, grades 6-12 have access to and regularly use an ACP software tool called Xello. Parents can also view their child’s Xello portfolio to better support their development from home. Ask your child to share their portfolio with you. If you need information on how to access your child’s Xello account, please reach out to your child’s school counselor or principal. With the help of the school counselors, teachers, administration and the community and the use of Xello and INSPIRE Sheboygan County, students will navigate through the continual process of knowexploreplan, and GO

Regional Career Pathway Maps

What are the Benefits of Regional Career Pathways?

  • For high school students, regional career pathways align education and training with the needs of the local job market, provide a range of postsecondary options, result in a high school diploma with at least one industry-recognized credential, and help students enter or advance within an occupation.

  • For schools, career pathways provide a specific ACP plan for occupations that are in demand in Wisconsin. This allows schools to focus on student and curriculum activities with input and support from regional employers and higher education.

  • For employers, regional career pathways make partnerships with a greater number of schools possible. This allows employers to shape the future talent pipeline, foster young talent, and highlight local career opportunities across an entire region.

    Access For All Students
If a student has a disability, the student’s academic and career plan shall be made available to the student’s individual education program team. The student’s individualized education program team may, if appropriate, take the student’s academic and career plan into account when developing the student’s transition services.

Current Progress and Future Goals for Implementation
In 2017, the Sheboygan Area School District developed a College and Career Readiness (CCR) Report Card to more appropriately assess our students’ college, career, and life readiness. The metrics in our report card are research-based and outlined by Redefining Ready. Redefining Ready is a national initiative launched by the AASA (The School Superintendents Association). Since its inception, the CCR Report Card has enabled SASD high schools to track the progress of cohorts of students, both large and small, as well as individual students. SASD high schools set annual continuous improvement goals based on the CCR Report Card.

The SASD Board of Education approved the district Academic and Career Planning process on February 22, 2022.
